FOREWORD

There are many editions of The Key to the Mystery (La Clé du Mystère) in both French and English, but they are very hard to come by, in particular the English. A French edition online at archive.org is tabloid size with loads of illustrations, complicating the task of translating it. The 1939 Paris edition, however, is ideal for translation. The publisher edited the tabloid into book form, removing the illustrations. Therefore, Adrien Arcand Books is pleased to present a preview from the English translation now underway of the 1939 Paris edition of Adrien Arcand’s The Key to the Mystery.

Adrien Arcand is credited as the author of The Key to the Mystery, but he is more logically the sponsor, its contents being a collection of extracts from countless origins. A women’s organization connected with Arcand’s political network is credited as the original publisher. More details are below in the “Disclaimer” included in the 1939 Paris edition.

The whole book is about 180 pages, so you have approximately a quarter of it here, with this preview ending at the top of page 42. Pagination begins at page 3, commencing with the Disclaimer.

Un petit nombre d’exemplaires, malgré l’interdiction de la Douane, réussirent à pénétrer en France où ils furent très bien accueillis par un certain nombre de militants nationaux heureux de posséder enfin une documentation importante sur la question juive, documentation prise en majeure partie dans les ouvrages et les journaux publiés par des Juifs. Dans son numéro du 1^er juillet 1880, « Le Contemporain », grande revue parisienne, publiait un long article intitulé « Compte rendu de Sir John Readcliff sur les événements politico-historiques survenus dans les dix dernières années ». C’était le texte d’un discours prononcé à Pragues par le rabbin Reichhorn, en 1869, sur la tombe du grand rabbin Siméon-ben-Jéhouda.	In its issue of July 1st, 1880, “Le Contemporain”, the great Paris review, published a long article entitled “Report of Sir John Readcliff on the politico-historical events of the last ten years”. It was the text of a speech given at Prague by Rabbi Reichorn, in 1869, on the tomb of the great rabbi Simeon-Ben-Jehouda.
