ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS: EXCLUSIVE ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS
ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS has been producing exclusive English translations of the works of Adrien Arcand since 2017.
ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS has invested years, effort and money, not to mention courage, in producing Adrien Arcand’s work in English for the first time.
Where works have been missing in part or in whole, we have carefully reconstructed them, often at great expense. We pay for documents from rare-book libraries, heritage book stores, university archives and the national archives in Ottawa, to reconstruct Arcand’s work to complete our translations. We pay for scanning trips to the Quebec Archives.
We donate the original French manuscripts that we buy to the Quebec national archives. Our English translations are distributed free to the public through our web site and by the Quebec Archives.
The exclusive English translations of ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS are under the copyright of Adrien Arcand Books and of the translator who runs this book site.
OUR ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS ARE COPYRIGHTED
ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS has just learned that an American company, on contract with the French publisher of the anthology, Serviam, la Pensée politique d’Adrien Arcand, plans to use the copyrighted English translations of ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS as a “guide” to copy-edit an English translation they paid someone else to do.
The American company plans to print-produce and sell “their” translation under the title Serviam: The Political Ideology of Adrien Arcand, for a profit.
This, of course, will benefit the American publisher, and the publisher of the French Serviam who managed to extract a contract from the Americans.
WE PROTEST
The EXCLUSIVE ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS of ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS are not a “resource” to be used by profit-making publishers to “correct” their own draft English which they plan to print and sell.
ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS and our translator own and defend our copyright to our original and exclusive English translations produced by us with help from no one.
Adrien Arcand Books therefore protests, having invested years of labor, money, and research in producing the work of Adrien Arcand in English, that any other publisher would plan to use our work to correct their own draft work and then sell it.

Nous faisons don des manuscrits originaux français que nous achetons aux Archives nationales du Québec. Nos traductions anglaises sont distribuées gratuitement au public via notre site Web et par les Archives du Québec.
Les traductions exclusives en anglais d’ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS sont sous le droit d’auteur d’Adrien Arcand Books et du traducteur qui gère ce site de livres.
NOS TRADUCTIONS EN ANGLAIS SONT PROTÉGÉES PAR LES DROITS D’AUTEUR
ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS vient d’apprendre qu’une entreprise américaine, à contrat avec l’éditeur de l’anthologie, Serviam, la Pensée politique d’Adrien Arcand, envisage d’utiliser les traductions anglaises protégées par le droit d’auteur d’ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS comme « guide » pour réviser une traduction en anglais pour laquelle ils ont payé quelqu’un d’autre.
L’entreprise américaine envisage d’imprimer-produire et de vendre « leur » traduction sous le titre Serviam: The Political Ideology of Adrien Arcand, à profit.
Cela profitera bien sûr à l’éditeur américain, et à l’éditeur de Serviam qui a réussi à soutirer un contrat aux Américains.
NOUS PROTESTONS
Les TRADUCTIONS EXCLUSIVES EN ANGLAIS d’ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS ne sont pas une « ressource » à utiliser par des éditeurs à but lucratif pour « corriger » leur propre brouillon d’anglais qu’ils envisagent d’imprimer et de vendre.
ADRIEN ARCAND BOOKS et notre traducteur possèdent et défendent nos droits d’auteur sur nos traductions originales et exclusives en anglais que nous réalisons avec l’aide de personne.
Adrien Arcand Books proteste donc, après avoir investi des années de travail, d’argent et de recherche dans la production du travail d’Adrien Arcand en anglais, que tout autre éditeur envisage d’utiliser notre travail pour corriger son propre travail de brouillon et ensuite le vendre.
